FESTA: The Spirit of Celebration

Slnce the birth of humanity ‘celebration’ has been a deeply-rooted aspect of every culture in the world. But how it expresses itself couldn’t be more individual and unique. This series of images explore this theme of cultural ‘celebration’ - setting out to capture its energy, colour, creativity and ultimately its spirit. The photographer exploits the use of hand-held long-exposure photography, which tracks the movement of the performers in motion to document random moments when colour, form and motion collide to create a unique image. This more impressionistic approach mirrors the raw energy and chaos that occurs during celebration. So far this series - working title FESTA - includes images from Europe, South America, Asia and the Africa and continues to grow
